Temu stops shipments from China to US, shifts to local fulfillment

Chinese e-commerce platform Temu recently announced it will stop shipping products directly from China to US customers.

Instead, all orders in the United States will now be fulfilled from warehouses within the country following the closure of the de minimis provision that earlier allowed Chinese-made products valued up to $800 to enter the country without import duties, a company spokesperson said.

Instead, all orders in the US will now be fulfilled from domestic warehouses following the closure of the de minimis provision, a company spokesperson said.
Several Chinese products have been removed from Temu’s website, and only items shipped from US warehouses are visible.

US consumer pricing “remains unchanged as the platform transitions to a local fulfillment model,” the company said.

Temu had said last month it would adjust its prices. It started implementing import fees for US customers purchasing Chinese items last week, occasionally leading to price hikes exceeding double the original cost.

“Temu has been actively recruiting US sellers to join the platform. The move is designed to help local merchants reach more customers and grow their businesses. This shift is part of Temu’s ongoing adjustments to improve service levels,” the company added.
