Dubai-based Aleph Hospitality has announced plans to open four new hotels in Ethiopia. This announcement marks a significant regional expansion for the hospitality management company, which has added 13 new hotels to its portfolio in 2024.
Aleph Hospitality has over 30 hotels in its active development pipeline across the Middle East and Africa. The company’s growth has been supported by more than 60% of hotel owners entrusted Aleph Hospitality with managing multiple properties.
The new hotels in Ethiopia include the five-star Elilly International Hotel in Addis Ababa’s Kazanchis business district and the four-star Elilly Bishoftu resort, situated on the shores of Bishoftu Guda Lake, currently under construction. In addition, the company will manage two new hotels under development in Addis Ababa and Bishoftu, which are set to open in 2026.
Before the pandemic, Ethiopia’s tourism sector was a significant contributor to the country’s GDP, with international tourist arrivals peaking at over 1.4 million. Despite the challenges of 2020, projections suggest that by 2030, the tourism sector could contribute over USD 5 billion annually to the GDP, with international arrivals exceeding 2 million visitors.
Bani Haddad, Founder and Managing Director of Aleph Hospitality, expressed optimism about the company’s expansion in Ethiopia and its contribution to the growth of the local tourism sector.
