The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) plans to open a new hotel in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. This new venture will be branded under their ‘Gateway’ hotel line.
Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate and Development at IHCL, highlighted the growth in cultural and adventure tourism in Rishikesh, attributing it to improved infrastructure and connectivity. The new hotel is expected to enhance IHCL’s regional presence further. Mahanand Sharma is partnering with IHCL for this project.
The Gateway Rishikesh, spanning 6 acres, will offer 125 rooms with views of the Ganges river and surrounding ghats. Amenities include a diner, specialty restaurant, bar, spa, pool, and gym. The hotel will also feature the largest banquet hall in Rishikesh, spread over 8,000 sq. ft, catering to the growing demand for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) facilities in the region.
Mahanand Sharma expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with IHCL, stating that the resort will offer a unique experience and boost Rishikesh’s reputation as a top leisure destination.
Rishikesh, known as the ‘Yoga Capital of the World,’ offers a mix of spirituality, wellness, and adventure, making it a popular destination. With the addition of this hotel, IHCL will operate 16 hotels in Uttarakhand, including six currently under development.
