Waldorf Astoria New York has announced it will begin accepting reservations from December 10 for stays commencing in 2025. Under meticulous restoration by architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, the historic property is anticipated to reopen in spring 2025.
Managing Director Luigi Romaniello revealed that visitors would experience the restoration of many historic elements of the hotel, including the Grand Ballroom and the lobby featuring the renowned Waldorf Astoria clock. Modern enhancements have also been introduced to cater to present-day travelers.
Situated in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, the hotel features 375 reimagined rooms and suites, blending modern comforts with Art Deco accents in tribute to the hotel’s iconic heritage. Each room, designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon, aims to provide an atmosphere of elegant tranquility in the midst of bustling Manhattan. The hotel will also feature a 30,000-square-foot spa, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and an outdoor terrace.
Acclaimed Chef Michael Anthony is set to head the hotel’s signature restaurant, Lex Yard, an American Brasserie. The iconic lounge and bar Peacock Alley has also been reimagined and will be reintroduced at the hotel’s core.
With 43,000 square feet of event space, the Waldorf Astoria New York aims to reestablish its position as a notable event venue in the city. Its heritage spaces, including the Grand Ballroom and other salons, are being restored to enhance their original Art Deco detailing. On-site event planning and management services will be available for events.
Dino Michael, Senior Vice President and Global Head of Hilton Luxury Brands, expressed excitement at the hotel’s reopening. He noted that it would be the flagship of a revitalized Waldorf Astoria brand.
