2,889 closed schools across Sindh re-opened

KARACHI:

Schools across Sindh, which were closed due to shortage of teachers, have been re-opened following the education reforms, the provincial government has announced.

Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah has said that 2,889 closed schools were re-opened and now no school will remain closed due to shortage of teaching staff.

He stated that a ‘Teachers Placement Committee’ was formed, which suggested appointing teachers for closed schools, making the teaching and education process active.

Under the reforms, a total of 2,587 teachers have been appointed for closed schools. The appointments were made at the taluka level to ensure availability of teachers.

However, the case of 169 closed schools in deprived talukas is pending due to a court hearing. Re-opening of these schools will be decided after the court decision.
