Shangri-La Group has announced the launch of its new ultra-luxury hotel brand, Shangri-La Signatures, marked by the opening of The Silk Lakehouse in Hangzhou.

Shangri-La Group has expanded its portfolio by introducing a new ultra-luxury hotel brand, Shangri-La Signatures. The inaugural property under this brand, The Silk Lakehouse, has officially opened in Hangzhou, located on the shores of West Lake, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Silk Lakehouse features 68 rooms and suites, offering views of West Lake and the property’s private gardens. The hotel’s design incorporates elements of Eastern tradition blended with contemporary influences, aiming to create a refined atmosphere reminiscent of a private residence. The property also includes a range of dining options, such as The Living Room by Alan Yu, which combines Western dining with local ingredients, and Golden Silk, which focuses on regional Hangzhou cuisine.

In addition to luxury accommodations and culinary offerings, The Silk Lakehouse provides personalized guest services through its Personal Host Programme. This service includes tailor-made cultural itineraries for guests, featuring activities like tea ceremonies, incense making, and silk weaving, designed to connect visitors with Hangzhou’s local heritage and artistry.

The hotel also emphasizes wellness with facilities such as an indoor swimming pool, yoga and Tai Chi sessions, and in-room mindfulness rituals. These features are part of the brand’s commitment to providing a holistic experience that nurtures the body, mind, and spirit.

The Silk Lakehouse occupies the site of the former Xiling Hotel, a historical landmark in Hangzhou. The new property aims to preserve and reinterpret cultural elements from its predecessor, including art installations and sculptures highlighting the region’s artistic traditions.

With the launch of Shangri-La Signatures and the opening of The Silk Lakehouse, Shangri-La Group is looking to set a new standard in hospitality, focusing on cultural richness, personalized service, and wellness-oriented experiences. This development is part of the group’s broader strategy to innovate and expand its presence in the luxury hospitality market.
