In a joint announcement, Hilton, Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. and TBS Holdings, Inc. announced plans for a new Canopy by Hilton hotel in Tokyo’s Akasaka district, set to open in 2028.
In a collaborative effort between Hilton, Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd., and TBS Holdings, Inc., Tokyo’s Akasaka district is poised to become the location of the third Canopy by Hilton hotel in Japan. The hotel, part of a mixed-use development project, is scheduled to begin operations in 2028.
The new Canopy by Hilton Tokyo Akasaka marks the brand’s introduction to Tokyo and the Kanto region of Japan. This will be the third Canopy by Hilton hotel in Japan, adding to the brand’s global portfolio of more than 40 properties across 13 countries and territories. The brand is recognized for its focus on local charm, design, and tailored food and beverage offerings.
The hotel will occupy the 7th to 18th floors of a mixed-use building in the west block of the Akasaka area development project, known as the “Akasaka 2-Chome and 6-Chome District Development Plan.” TBS and Mitsubishi Estate spearhead this project. The 18-story building will offer 174 guest rooms, including 24 suites, primarily around 31 square meters in size. Dining options include a restaurant and bar, and a terrace café with panoramic views of the Akasaka area. Other amenities include a 77-square-meter meeting lounge and a 24-hour fitness room.
The development project will be directly connected to Akasaka Station on the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line. The building’s lower floors will house theaters and halls, positioning the building as a hub for entertainment in the Akasaka area. Visitors will easily access business districts and various tourist attractions across Tokyo. Plans are underway to provide limousine bus services to and from the city’s airports.
