Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held talks with United States congressional delegation in Islamabad on Sunday, with talks focused on counterterrorism cooperation and strengthening bilateral investment ties.

The visiting delegation included Congressmen Jack Bergman, Tom Suozzi and Jonathan Jackson. Pakistan’s Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudry, acting US ambassador Natalie Baker, and Interior Secretary Khurram Agha also attended the meeting.

According to the interior ministry, discussions covered economic cooperation, trade, investment, and security, with a particular emphasis on counterterrorism and border security.

During the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi described Pakistan as a “wall” between terrorism and the wider world, urging greater international collaboration.

“Terrorism is a global challenge and the international community urgently needs to cooperate fully with Pakistan,” Naqvi was quoted as saying.

Interior minister called for deeper intelligence sharing and access to advanced counterterrorism technology.

Pakistan and the United States are scheduled to hold a dedicated counterterrorism dialogue in June amid a surge in militant violence in Pakistan’s western border regions with Afghanistan.

Islamabad has long accused Kabul of harbouring militants targeting Pakistani forces, allegations rejected by the Taliban-led government in Afghanistan.
