A preliminary ruling based on the findings of a probe said imports of polyformaldehyde copolymer from the above was tantamount to dumping and caused substantial damage to the related domestic industry, a state-controlled media outlet reported.
China recently decided to implement temporary anti-dumping duty (ADD) on imported polyformaldehyde (POM) copolymer originating in the US, the EU, Japan and Taiwan, beginning January 24, according to the country’s ministry of commerce.
Such imports are causing substantial damage to the related domestic industry.
POM is a substitute for metals in many industries.
Importers are required to place deposits with the Chinese customs when importing products under investigation, based on margins of between 3.8 per cent and 74.9 per cent, the ministry said.
POM is primarily used in auto parts, electronic appliances, industrial machinery, sports equipment and medical equipment as a partial substitute for copper, zinc, tin, lead and other metal materials.
