Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring women have equal opportunities to thrive and contribute to the country’s development, marking National Working Women’s Day with a message of appreciation and support.
In his address, the Prime Minister celebrated the invaluable contributions of Pakistani women in shaping society and driving economic progress. “Women make up more than half of our population, and their role is central to our nation’s future,” he said.
Citing the founding father, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Sharif quoted, “No nation can rise to the height of glory unless your women are side by side with you.”
PM Shehbaz acknowledged the significant achievements of women in leadership roles across various sectors, including education, healthcare, business, and public service. “Women’s contributions are indispensable not only in professional fields but also in nurturing families and shaping the future generation,” he added.
The Prime Minister further highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to support working women, noting initiatives like interest-free loans for women entrepreneurs, an endowment fund for women’s education and sports development, and daycare centres to alleviate the burden of balancing work and family life.
Specialized training programs aimed at skill enhancement have also been introduced to help women advance in their careers and leadership positions.
PM concluded by expressing his vision for a future where women in leadership roles are not an exception but the norm. He urged the creation of more women-friendly work environments to allow women to flourish, ensuring that they continue playing a pivotal role in Pakistan’s progress and prosperity.
