Army chief vows to eliminate terrorism and its facilitators

Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir reiterated his commitment to eradicating terrorism, its enablers, and financiers during his visit to South Waziristan on Friday.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday, General Munir was briefed on the current security situation and ongoing counterterrorism operations in the area.

While addressing officers and troops, the army chief praised their unwavering resilience and determination in combating terrorism, describing them as the nation’s true heroes. “The nation is proud of the brave individuals fighting terrorism. Our martyrs are a source of pride for Pakistan, and their sacrifices will never be forgotten,” he said.

General Munir stressed the importance of national unity, stating, “With the steadfast support of the nation, Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies will ensure sustainable peace and stability across the country.”

He further vowed to eliminate all forms of terrorism and extremism, asserting, “We are resolute in our mission to eradicate terrorism and its manifestations. The courage, resilience, and unwavering determination of Pakistan’s armed forces form the cornerstone of the nation’s sovereignty.”

The army chief reaffirmed the military’s resolve to counter the menace of ‘Khawarij,’ a term used to describe extremist groups, and pledged to dismantle networks involved in anti-state activities, along with their facilitators and financial supporters.

Earlier, upon his arrival in Wana, General Munir was received by the Peshawar Corps Commander. The visit highlighted the military’s ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in Pakistan, with a focus on combating terrorism and safeguarding the nation’s security.
