UK clothing-footwear CPI up 2% in 12 months to Nov: ONS

The UK consumer price index (CPI) rose by 2.6 per cent in the 12 months to November this year, up from 2.3 per cent in the 12 months to October, according to the Office of National Statistics (ONS).

On a monthly basis, CPI rose by 0.1 per cent in November compared with a fall of 0.2 per cent in the same month last year.

The clothing-footwear CPI rose by 2 per cent in the 12 months to November, up from 1 per cent in the 12 months to October.
On a monthly basis, the same rose by 0.6 per cent in the month; in November 2023, it fell by 0.3 per cent.

The largest upward contribution to the monthly change in CPI annual rates came from transport.

Core CPI (excluding energy, food, alcohol and tobacco) rose by 3.5 per cent in the 12 months to November, up from 3.3 per cent in October.

The CPI goods annual rate rose from minus 0.3 per cent to 0.4 per cent, an ONS release said.

The CPI for clothing and footwear rose by 2 per cent in the 12 months to November, up from 1 per cent in the 12 months to October. On a monthly basis, the same rose by 0.6 per cent in the month compared with a fall of 0.3 per cent in the same month last year.
