Hilton has announced the achievement of a significant milestone in its Asia Pacific expansion. The company now operates 1,000 hotels in the region, a notable increase from the 761 at the end of last year. This achievement arrives ahead of their goal to reach this milestone by 2025.
In the last five years, the company’s portfolio in the region has grown by an impressive 25% compound annual growth rate (CAGR). Rising middle-class demand for travel and experiences in Asia Pacific has fueled this growth. Hilton has a development pipeline of 915 hotels, putting it on track to double its overall portfolio in the coming years.
Newly opened sites across various cities and resorts have contributed to Hilton reaching this milestone. These include the Hilton Shanghai City Center, Hilton Gurugram Baani City Centre, Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda, The Motley Hotel Richmond, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, and Hilton Garden Inn Bangkok Riverside.
Despite this growth, Hilton sees more opportunities for development as hospitality demand in the Asia Pacific continues to outstrip supply. The company plans to cater to various price points and occasions, emphasizing mid-market to luxury offerings.
Hilton’s plans include doubling its current portfolio of 500 mid-market hotels and quadrupling its luxury estate to 150 hotels. The company’s flagship brands, Hilton Hotels & Resorts and DoubleTree by Hilton Hotels, are also expected to grow by another 160 hotels.
In Greater China, Hilton now operates 758 hotels across 10 brands in 249 locations. This includes over 400 Hampton by Hilton hotels and almost 100 Hilton Garden Inn properties. The company has also made significant additions in India, with the opening of DoubleTree by Hilton Bengaluru Whitefield and Hilton Gurugram Baani City Center.
Southeast Asia continues to be a key growth area for Hilton. This year, the company debuted in Laos with the DoubleTree by Hilton Vientiane and planted two more DoubleTree flags in Jakarta. It also opened two more Hilton Garden Inn properties in Thailand and signed an agreement to develop a portfolio of focused service properties in Vietnam.
Looking ahead, Hilton plans to expand its lifestyle brands Canopy by Hilton, Curio Collection by Hilton, and Tapestry Collection by Hilton across the region to cater to travelers seeking more unique experiences.
