Annual inflation in the EU was 2.3 per cent in October, up from 2.1 per cent in September. A year earlier, it was 3.6 per cent, according to Eurostat, the EU statistical office.
The lowest annual rates were registered in Slovenia (0 per cent), Lithuania and Ireland (both 0.1 per cent). The highest annual rates were recorded in Romania (5 per cent), Belgium and Estonia (both 4.5 per cent).
The euro area annual inflation rate was 2 per cent in October, up from 1.7 per cent in September, Eurostat said. A year earlier, the rate was 2.9 per cent.
