Everything To Know About Dreamlight’s Valley Storybook Vale

Disney Dreamlight Valley has amassed a huge following of fans since its 2022 release. Developer Gameloft has provided regular updates to ensure players remain engaged on a consistent basis. This usually comes in the form of a new character or two and a fresh Star Path (battle pass) every few months—all of which can usually be knocked out within a week or so.

But the team has also shown a dedication to yearly expansions starting with last December’s A Rift in Time DLC, which introduced an entirely new story, unique biomes, and special characters that could only be unlocked within the expansion’s world. And now, this trend will continue on November 20 with the addition of The Storybook Vale, bringing a whole lot of cool stuff to the game we’ve never seen before.

Here’s what you need to know about what’s coming in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s all-new The Storybook Vale expansion.

It has a new story and new villains!

A new story will take place within the DLC, promising exciting twists and turns as you work to fend off the influence of two new villains who have taken over the Vale. And yes, you read that right—while A Rift in Time introduced Jafar as its central villain, The Storybook Vale actually features two main baddies this time around: Maleficent and Hades.

But you’ll need to wait a while before you get to see how it all plays out, as the expansion will be released in two parts, with the second not landing until mid-2025.

  • Part 1: Welcome to the Vale (November 20, 2024)
  • Part 2: The Unwritten Realms (Summer 2025)

But there are new friendships, too!

Villains are cool, but heroes are cooler. If you’re going to put an end to Maleficent and Hades’ rule, you’ll need pals to help out. That’s why you’ll be working alongside at least two fresh faces: Merida from Brave and Flynn Rider from Tangled. As always, you’ll solve quests with them and increase their friendship levels to unlock unique rewards on your path to solving the Vale’s problems.

Three new biomes and critter types await!

The Vale isn’t just a minor addition to your main valley—it’s a whole new land filled with three biomes of its own. While exploring the Vale, you’ll visit a forested area called The Bind, a dark mushroom-filled spot called Ever After, and the Hercules-inspired land of Mythopia. All of these locations will have their own new plants, fish, and critters.

Yes, we said new critters! You’ll also find that each of these biomes in the Vale is home to new critters. If you’d like them as companions, you’ll need to feed and befriend them. Here are the critters you’ll encounter in each biome:

  • Dragons
  • Owls
  • Winged Horses

We don’t know what their favorite foods will be yet, but you can rest assured they’ll be hungry for both tasty meals and your affection!

There’s even a new royal tool!

Royal Tools are used to do just about everything in Disney Dreamlight Valley, whether it’s watering crops with your watering can, breaking open mining nodes with your pickaxe, or digging with your shovel. A Rift in Time even added an hourglass staff that lets you find unique crafting materials.

The Storybook Vale is introducing the Royal Net, which you’ll use to catch Snippets— small creatures made from pages out of a storybook that can be found around the Vale. How these little fellows play into the overarching story is yet to be seen, but they appear to be pet-like in nature, so perhaps they’ll ultimately end up as our companions!

Either way, this popular cozy game feature is almost certain to appeal to fans who remember similar mechanics in games like Animal Crossing or Cozy Grove.

There are three ways to access it!
