The 1/6 Committee Is Using Forensics To Recover Evidence Destroyed By Secret Service

Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) of the 1/6 Committee said that they are using forensics to recover the evidence that the Secret Service destroyed.

Video of Lofgren:

CNN’s Jim Acosta asked if the 1/6 Committee would get to the bottom of the destroyed evidence.

Rep. Lofgren answered, “It’s our intent to get to the bottom of it. Every time a text is sent, there’s the sender and the person who receives the text. So we’re going to track this down, use forensics, we’re going to be going to the telecoms to see if they can recover this material and the like. By the way, we don’t know what is in it, but we fully expect to get or hope to get the — all the text messages sent by Mr. Jones, who just lost his defamation case. You know, we’re going to find out, get to the bottom of this and let the American people know what we found out.”

It is a little hard to believe that the Secret Service thought they could delete their text messages from the 1/5-1/6, blame a device upgrade, and think that no one would ever be able to recover the data.

The 1/6 Committee is serious about getting the texts, and Rep. Lofgren’s comments about there being a sender and a receiver for each message were illuminating.

If the Committee can’t get the sender’s texts, they will use phone records to get the receiver’s.

Given the 1/6 Committee’s track record of success, the Secret Service should volunteer the information because the investigation will likely get what they are looking for, and they won’t stop until they have the information.
